Technology isn't solely to blame for impatient humans. You can easily blame the McDonald's Drive through or Domino's 30 minutes or less pizza delivery.

Moreover, if we're in part responsible for the now-now-now culture, is there a way for us to rein it in at all?

We (humans) are impatient from the beginning. Technology enables us (as we create and enable it) to become the humans we were meant to be.
